Sweden: Åre
Åre is the finest and largest ski resort in Scandinavia. Here you will find nature at its best combined with fantastic ski possibilities, great restaurants and a rich nightlife. Åre is without doubt in Scandinavia the best choice for winter sporters who are looking for a large ski area and good variety in other winter activities, like scooter safaris, dogsleds, ice-caving and Icelandic pony riding.
Chill out in Kiruna
In Swedish Lapland, 200 km north of the Arctic Circle and 12 km from Kiruna Airport, the village of Jukkasjárvi is situated next to the Torne River. From the crystal clear river water each year the largest and most unique Ice Hotel in the world is built. What once began as an igloo has become the famous Icehotel, which rises on the white horizon from mid November and in spring slowly disappears.
Elm in Glarnerland
In the north of Switzerland you will find the idyllic town of Elm, in the relatively unknown Canton of Glarus. Due to its good access at only 90 km from Zurich airport, the wintersport resort Elm is very suitable for a long weekend in the snow. The small mountain hamlet is situated at the end of a valley and has a historic centre with wooden houses and cozy pubs.
Megève, traditional village of the jetset
The Haute Savoie, the French region bordering Switzerland and Italy, is classified as one of the oldest ski areas of France. Megève is located in this region and is our favourite because it offers everything a real ski resort should have. But still it has kept the charms of a small mountain village, in spite of the fact that in winter the jet set frequents this resort.
