Winter: January, February and March
To find a nice and sunny destination during the winter months you would normally have to undertake longer flights in search of higher temperatures. During this period Europe is out of the question and you should aim towards the southern hemisphere where summer is in full swing, unless you are considering winter sports. If you have not so much time and don't wish to travel far your best options lie in the welcoming warm temperatures of the Middle East and North Africa.
Egypt, Dubai and Oman are great destinations with lovely temperatures, interesting sightseeing and wonderful beaches. In East Africa the great wildlife migrations take place during this period in Tanzania and it is summer in South Africa. But Asia, during its dry period, also offers excellent possibilities, with warm temperatures and, even more important, clear skies. Extraordinary tropical surprises are to be found in India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Sri Lanka and the Maldives. If you consider a destination towards the west then your options lie in the Caribbean Islands, Mexico or Guatemala.
