Welcome to Damascus

Damascus, the capital of Syria, is without a doubt the most interesting cultural capital of the Middle East. What is not well-known is that its people are incredibly welcoming and friendly. It is the oldest city in the world with remnants from all periods of its rich history. In combination with its sunny climate and the excellent food, with its Libanese touch, it makes Damascus an ideal weekend destination. Well worth seeing are the Great Mosque, one of the most beautiful in the world, the Al Azam Palace and the lively bazaar.  Recently, historical buildings in the old inner city have been converted into boutique style hotels. One of them is Beit Al Jouri, a former Jewish palace, that has been renovated and decorated with great taste and style. The best workmen and materials have been used in this intimate hotel, with only 17 rooms, to make it an extraordinarily welcoming home in Damascus.
