The historic forts, wadis, oases and vast sandy beaches of Oman

The Sultanate of Oman is a modern country with a rich past, that not so very long ago opened its doors widely to foreign visitors. The friendly Omani still offer the traditional hospitality of the Arab culture and make a visitor feel more then welcome. The capital Muscat is the residence of Sultan Qaboos Bin Said, who rules the country from his fabulous palace. In Muscat there are excellent five-star hotels with beautiful sandy beaches, such as The Chedi or the Al Bustan Palace. For the more authentic face of Oman, you have to travel inland and visit the rural villages and Nizwá, the former capital during the sixth and seventh century.
This trip is very easy to do by rental car, as the roads are in good condition.
