Highlights of Cuba

Program

Day 1. Amsterdam - Havana
Arrival at Havana airport and transfer to the hotel in Havana for dinner and overnight.

Day 2. Havana
Walking tour Habana Vieja, the historical centre where the hotel is located. After lunch visit to the Rum museum, the Capitol and the Central Park. Evening program with cigar and rum tasting and dinner at Conde de Villanueva.

Day 3. Havana
Visit to the El Moro fort and Christ Picture. After lunch visit to the burial place of Columbus,  the Square of the Revolution and Callejon Hamel. Dinner at restaurant La Paella.

Day 4. Havana - Vinales
Departure to Vinales  to visit the Mural de la Prehistoria (a painted mountain) and the Cueva del Indio for a boat trip in underground rivers. Lunch stop in Pinar and then city tour.

Day 5. Vinales
Guided morning walk to the tobacco fields. Lunch at restaurant and visit of the botanical garden and the Casa de la Cultura.

Day 6. Sierra del Rosario
Departure to Las Terrazas, an UNESCO reforestation project of a region which in past years was used for the coffee plantations. Lunch and continue to Soroa for dinner and overnight.

Day 7. Sierra del Rosario - the Zapata Peninsula
Visit the great Soroa orchid garden and waterfalls and departure towards the Zapata Peninsula. Continue to Bohio Don Pedro, for dinner and overnight.

Day 8. The Zapata Peninsula - Cienfuegos
Via the Bay of Pigs and the Cueva de los Pesces to Cienfuegos. After the lunch possibility for a refreshing dip. Then along the southern route to Cienfuegos for a visit to Tomas Terry Theatre and dinner at Palacio del Valle.

Day 9. Cienfuegos - Trinidad
Departure to Trinidad through villages and along the mountain ranges. In Trinidad visit of the Museum of romance and the Plaza Mayor. After a drink at the bar Canchanchara, lunch at a former Spanish prison. Dinner and evening visit to the Casa de la Musica for live music.

Day 10. Trinidad - Camaguey
Departure to Camaguey through the Valle de los Ingenios and along Manaca Iznaga tower. Then visit to the city of Sancti Spiritus, lunch in a local restaurant and proceed to Camaguey. Dinner at the hotel. In the evening stroll through the historic centre.

Day 11. Camaguey - Santiago de Cuba
Departure to Santiago, where the house of the spiritual father of Cuba will be visited. Lunch  and continue to Santiago. Check in at hotel Versalles and dinner in restaurant El Zunzun.

Day 12. Santiago de Cuba
City tour including Céspedes square and the home of Diego Velasquez. Then by boat to the island of Cayo Blanco. Lunch on the beach and visit of the fort and El Moro Granjita Siboney, the farm where Fidel Castro planned his first revolt. Back to the hotel, dinner at a local restaurant.

Day 13. Santiago de Cuba - Camaguey
Departure to Holguin, visit the City of squares, with no less than 70 squares, and lunch at a local restaurant. Continue to Camaguey, dinner and overnight at the hotel.

Day 14. Camaguey - Santa Clara
Visit Santa Clara, the historic centre, the university and the mausoleum of Che Guevara. Lunch at local restaurant, dinner and overnight at the hotel.

Day 15. Santa Clara - Havana
This morning departure to Havana, lunch at local restaurant. In the afternoon some time at leisure, then transfer to Havana airport for departure to Amsterdam. A beach extension at Varadero is possible.

Day 16. Amsterdam
Arrival in the morning at Schiphol.
