Mozambique

Mozambique is increasingly developing into an exclusive beach destination, with a great combination of beach and underwater world. The coastline is no less than 2500 km long and bordered with coconut palms.

The coral islands of the Bazaruto Archipelago with its impressive sand dunes and pristine beaches, are the dream of every diver, beach and nature lover. The hotels are situated like little gems along the vast beaches and have an authentic and casual atmosphere. A beach holiday in Mozambique is almost always on an all-inclusive basis and the ultimate extension of a trip to South Africa.

Off the coast of the capital lies Machangulo, a peninsula with endless, pearly white sandy beaches and sand dunes. Diving enthusiasts can go to the shallow coral reefs that lie just off the coast. In about an hour and a half you can travel by speedboat from Maputo to Machangulo. Machangulo Beach Lodge is situated among the dunes and is highly recommended, with only 14 suites on a wonderful beach.

White Pearl Resort is 25 km from the border with South Africa or a 30-minute flight from Maputo. It lies on an endless sandy beach in a sheltered bay. The 22 suites on stilts each have a large terrace with swimming pool. At the beach the swimming pools lure you with wonderful day beds, trendy beach bar, restaurant and numerous water sports. This is “barefoot luxury” at its best.

The islands of the Bazaruto Archipelago have hardly been visited yet and form a national park because of the rich bird life, the coral reefs and the many colorful sea creatures. Here lies the Anantara Bazaruto Island Resort with 44 beautiful villas and many sports facilities and can be reached by plane from Vilanculos.

The luxury eco paradise Azura is located on Benguerra island, about a two-hour flight from Johannesburg and 10 minutes by helicopter from Vilanculos. It has 16 villas, each with its own swimming pool and lots of privacy. Many activities are possible, but it is also tempting just to do nothing!
