Zanzibar & Pemba

The spice islands of Zanzibar and Pemba are located off the coast of Tanzania and offer fantastic beaches and an enchanting underwater world. A beach holiday on these islands can easily be combined with a beautiful safari trip. The capital Stonetown is located on the west coast of Zanzibar and is the birthplace of Freddie Mercury. The airport is also located here and upon arrival or departure it is advisable to spend the night in a charming palace or boutique hotel in Stonetown. You will then have plenty of opportunities to roam in the maze of narrow streets and enjoy a beautiful sunset at the end of the day. For the most beautiful beaches, diving and/or snorkeling locations it is best to be on the east coast of Zanzibar, about a two-hour drive from Stonetown.

For example Breezes Beach Club & Spa, an attractive family resort on one of the most beautiful beaches in Zanzibar. The 71 spacious rooms are situated in a beautifully landscaped garden and there is also a family villa for up to 6 people. The many facilities include a beautiful swimming pool, various water sport options and a spa to make a stay here complete.
The neighboring sister hotel Baraza is all inclusive and consists of only thirty villas with 1 or 2 bedrooms.

The small-scale Matemwe lies on a cliff on the east coast, overlooking one of the most beautiful beaches. There are a total of 16 bungalow rooms with a private terrace, hammock and views over the Mnemba Atoll, where you can dive or snorkel.

The island of Pemba lies north of Zanzibar and is the second largest island of the archipelago an a lot quieter. With lagoons, mangrove forest, coral reefs and beautiful pristine beaches. Our favorite lodge is Fundu Lagoon, a small-scale, intimate eco-lodge with only 18 bungalow rooms and a magnificent view over the Indian Ocean. Barefoot luxury with good snorkeling and diving locations and the beach at your doorstep. Children from 12 years are welcome.
