Andalusia

In southern Spain, the Arabs founded an empire that once was a magnificent and prosperity civilization. Touring these cultural cities is amongst the very best Spain has to offer. For the overnights we can mke reservations for you in historical hotels or Paradores and can include private guides and entrance tickets for example, for the Alhambra. Our favourite fly & drive is for example: a visit to Seville, the sparkling capital of Andalusia, followed by a beautiful drive via Carmona, to Cordoba Ubeda. The journey ends in Granada, a city located at 700 meters above sea level at the foot of the Sierra Nevada. There is an inscription in the Alhambra stating: “Nothing is worse than being blind in Granada” which really indicates that there is so much to see here.

Andalusia is known for its beautiful hotels in Andalusian style with romantic patios and whitewashed walls and a lovely atmosphere. La Bobadilla is one such hotel, situated between Granada and Cordoba, and a wonderfully feel good hotel that was inspired by it’s surroundings. It is possible to combine a few nights in Seville with a few nights in this beautiful hacienda. Hacienda San Rafael is also a beautiful example and is an ideal base fom which to visit Jerez and Costa de la Luz.

Cadiz is the oldest city in Europe and the capital of Cuba is a larger copy of this beautiful city. Boats depart daily from Sanlucar de Barrameda to take you to the nature reserve of Parque Doñana, a very bird-rich estuary. The coastline near Tarifa is a popular destination in Europe for kite-and windsurfers, and often you will see hundreds of surfers in the water. The Strait of Gibraltar is one of the best places in Europe to spot dolphins and whales. Between April and October whale-watching tours depart from Tarifa, taking you to spots where you will most likely see these magnificent marine mammals close by. There are no luxury hotel options in Tarifa, but many charming guesthouses and the best hotel on the beach is Dos Mares which has bungalow rooms on the beach, private windsurf school and horse riding school. If you prefer to stay in the historic part of Tarifa then we recommend Dar Cilla, with attractive studios and apartments for 2 to 4 people.
