Uganda: Experience

From a landscape point of view, Uganda is one of the most beautiful safari destinations in Africa. There are mountains, lakes, rivers, waterfalls and various nature parks. In addition to the mountain gorillas and chimpanzees, there are also elephants, lions, leopards, hippos and zebras. It is also a paradise for bird lovers. Because the country is relatively unknown as a safari destination there aren’t  many visitors yet. During our tour there are brisk walks on the program and a good physical condition is a requirement.

The journey begins in Entebbe and about thirty kilometers from here off the coast in Victoria Lake, there is an island worth visiting. Ngamba Island is the chimpanzee reserve where the Jane Gooddall Institute takes care of chimpanzees and where a forest walk is planned. The journey then continues to Lake Mburo National Park, and within a hilly green landscape lakes that attracts many birds, impalas and zebras. From the Mantana Lake Mburo Camp you can participate in a game drive, walk safari or boat tour.

One of the highlights of this private trip is the Gorilla Trek in the Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. In addition to mountain gorillas, there are also chimpanzees and blues monkeys. The base accommodation is the Buhoma Lodge, and from here you travel with guides for hikes through the impenetrable rainforest. Actually meeting a mountain gorilla in the wild will be an experience that you will remember for a very long time. Then a visit to the Queen Elizabeth National Park is on the program with herds of elephants, buffalo and hundreds of thousands of antelopes, here you will stay at Ishasha Wilderness Camp.

Finally a visit to the Kibale Forest National Park where it is possible to spot several primates: black, white and red-tailed colobus monkeys. Here you can also observe a chimpanzee family during their daily life. Overnight at Primate Lodge ***

The trip can be extended with a visit to Wild Water Lodge, uniquely situated at the origin of the Nile and has fantastic rafting possibilities.
