Oman: Beaches and Bedouins

The Sultanate of Oman is a quiet, safe and very child friendly destination. It has many beautiful beaches, but the best is on the Bay of Bandar Jussa, just 20 minutes drive from the historic centre of the capital Muscat. The Oman Dive Centre lies in a sheltered bay with safe swimming at your door step and a lovely sandy beach. There are several diving courses available as well as snorkelling trips and boat trips to spot the dolphins. The small resort consists of about 20 beach huts situated on the beach and that can accommodate from 2 to 4 people. The cosy rooms have been built in a traditional style and all have a private terrace.

Oman is well suited for a round trip by car or with a 4-wd with driver. Every year many turtles come ashore to lay their eggs and in Ras al Jinz there is an information centre with accommodation in the eco tents or in rooms in the main building. Your next stop could be the desert  and here the Nomadic Camp offers special activities in the desert such as riding a camel. But an introduction to the lifestyle of the Bedouins while visiting one of their tents is also a highlight of desert life.

The View Camp is the last stop during the tour and this particular lodge is located at 1,400 meters altitude and consists of 30 cottages that are built against the face of a cliff and with fantastic views of the mountains. The lodge is in the Haggar Mountains at Al Hamra, about a forty five minute drive from Nizwa.
