Switzerland: Elm

In the north part of Switzerland lies, in the relatively unknown area of Glarus, the idyllic ski resort of Elm. At just 90 km from Zurich airport, Elm is easy to reach for a long weekend in the snow. This authentic wooden mountain village lies quietly at the far end of the valley, and has many historic houses and cozy pubs. It is one of the best kept secrets of the Swiss, who love to come for a weekend to enjoy the winter sport possibilities. Elm has a small but well equipped, high-altitude ski area with 60 km of slopes for alpine skiing and cross country. This is not the place for the jet set, but for those who love beautiful and tranquil surroundings. For the non-skiers there are wonderful cross-country skiing possibilities, hiking paths and with sled tracks. The first mountain station there is a large restaurant with sun terrace and can be reached on foot, by way of a footpath or by cable car. For further information on the winter sports opportunities, see: www.elm.ch
The 4-star Hotel Sardona is situated on the outskirts of the village and about 100 m from the ski lift. The hotel has 66 rooms, all with bath / shower, telephone, TV, minibar. The hotel has a cozy bar and a restaurant. There is an indoor pool, a sauna and two bowling alleys. The cross-country trails start right outside the door.
